Libraries Without Borders US (LWB US), the American branch of the international nonprofit Bibliothèques Sans Frontières (BSF), is the only organization that combines expert library support services with boots-on-the-ground community implementation—ensuring economically disadvantaged and underrepresented communities gain equitable access to literacy, learning, and cultural connection.
We pursue our mission through two interconnected pathways:
Community Programs: We work directly with excluded communities to remove barriers to access, create culturally relevant programming, and support literacy, learning, and cultural preservation.
Institutional Partnership: We equip libraries with the expert consulting, training, and implementation support they need to reach excluded populations, filling capacity gaps and delivering measurable results.
Our approach is community-led, place-based, evidence-informed, and justice-oriented. We center the voices of those we serve. We partner with libraries, schools, government agencies, local entities, and trusted community spaces. We use data to design, adapt, and scale what works. And we build community agency through access to knowledge and information.
