OUR TOOLS

Ideas Box

The Ideas Box is a portable, durable kit that opens in less than 20 minutes and transforms into a school, a library, or a community center, complete with a satellite connection, tablets, computers, cameras, books, and arts and crafts supplies. The project provides access to technology, digital tools, educational workshops, and cultural activities. Designed by Philippe Starck, it has been deployed around the world – from refugee camps in Jordan to homeless shelters in Paris to community centers in Australia and Puerto Rico.

Ideas Cube

The Ideas Cube is an ultra-portable and autonomous digital library. The Ideas Cube creates a WiFi hotspot that allows users to connect with a smartphone, tablet, or computer to access thousands of educational, cultural, or training resources. In rural or disconnected schools, clinics, and community centers, the Ideas Cube broadcasts texts, videos, or online courses to over two dozen users. When connected to the Internet, the Ideas Cube updates and shares all locally created content in the cloud. New resources can also be downloaded from an online catalog.

Kajou

Kajou is a social enterprise technology that distributes quality digital content – offline – to disconnected people around the world. The Kajou app connects users to Wikipedia in their native language, health literacy and nutrition information, audiobooks, educational materials, news, online courses, and more. This content is made available through either the Kajou Card (an SD card for smartphones) or the Kajou Boss (a battery-operated server allowing up to twenty simultaneous users and ten hours of battery life). Read more about Kajou in Senegal here.

These tools were developed by LWB International, headquartered in Paris, and are used in more than 50 countries around the world, reaching millions of people every year. For more information please visit www.bibliosansfrontieres.org.
