Since 2007, our parent organization, Bibliothèques Sans Frontières (BSF) has worked to bring knowledge and information to vulnerable communities around the world. BSF provides access and resources that connect people to books and digital resources, expanding the reach of public libraries and intervening in post-emergency and conflict situations worldwide.

BSF has touched millions of lives in 50+ countries. With a large digital library, books in dozens of languages, and innovative technological tools, BSF can meet communities where they are with the information that they need to thrive in the 21st century. BSF has won the Google Impact Challenge, international prize for literacy from the Library of Congress, and partnered with the United Nations, Open Society Foundation, and more.

Developed by Philippe Starck, the Ideas Box is a portable, durable pop-up library that can transform any location into a school, a library, or a community center, complete with a satellite connection, tablets, computers, cameras, books, and arts and crafts supplies. The award-winning Ideas Box has been featured in the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum and deployed in 150+ places around the world – from refugee camps in Jordan and Bangladesh to homeless shelters in Paris to community centers in Australia.

The Ideas Cube is an ultra-portable offline internet server. The Ideas Cube creates a WiFi hotspot that allows users to connect with a smartphone, tablet, or computer to access a customized digital library. The Ideas Cube has been used in rural schools in West Africa and to connect Ukrainian refugees in Poland with vital immigration and legal resources.

Kajou is a SIM card technology that distributes digital content without an internet connection – connecting users to Wikipedia in their native language, health literacy and nutrition information, audiobooks, educational materials, news, online courses, and more.
