Case Study · March 2023 – February 2024
A twelve-month pilot with a cohort of six libraries — urban, suburban, and rural — to grow each library’s reach and sustainably connect community members to its resources, with solutions tailored to each community.
01
Interviews, surveys, and focus groups plus demographic and usage data — identifying the barriers keeping residents from their local library.
02
Door-to-door canvassing, social media campaigns, community partnerships, and school-based library access programs.
03
Guides and training toolkits so each library keeps the outreach going long after the partnership — lasting impact by design.
Partner libraries reported measurable increases in access and usage, along with transformed staff capacity:
“The partnership will catapult the library forward in ways that would have taken us years.”
“Foot traffic has increased every month. Statistics have increased across the board: visits, circulation, new patrons, website hits, Wi-Fi use, and computer use.”
This project is made possible in part by the Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act, administered by the Connecticut State Library.
